Some people don’t love winter. They dislike the cold, and they’re definitely not big fans of snow. They don’t like winter coats and hats and constantly dream of moving somewhere warm. 

And then there are those people who really love winter! They relish the cold and enjoy bundling up in down parkas. They like heading outdoors to ice skate or sled. And they probably enjoy hitting the slopes to do some skiing.

If you’re planning a ski trip, the U.S. has some excellent destinations where you’ll find plenty of snow and amazing conditions. Not sure where you want to go? Then take a look at a few of these places as you narrow down your choices.

• Telluride: Telluride, Colorado is definitely one of the premier ski destinations in the United States. With large amounts of snow and over 2,000 acres of skiable slopes, it’s no wonder people who go here just love it. There are excellent hotels for a good night’s sleep and some beautiful spas if you’re looking for ways to relax that don’t involve skiing.
• Steamboat Springs: Steamboat is also located in Colorado and is extremely scenic and family-friendly. There are close to 3,000 acres of skiable slopes and snowboard terrain for outdoor enjoyment. Steamboat Springs also has lots of resorts, great restaurants, and an active nightlife. 
• Jackson Hole: Jackson Hole Valley in Wyoming has several great ski areas: Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Snow King Mountain Resort, and Grand Targhee Resort – which means there is plenty of great skiing. Ski lifts and gondolas will bring you quickly to the top of the slopes, and then you’ll be enjoying fresh powder as you head down. 
• Vail: Vail is located in the Colorado Rockies and has over 5,000 skiable acres – meaning there’s no lack of fantastic slopes. There are excellent accommodations in Vail and wonderful restaurants and shops for your après-ski fun. 
• Aspen: Aspen is a year-round destination for outdoor lovers, but it really comes alive in the winter when the snow starts to fly. You’ll find lots of lodging options, chances to take ski lessons, and special events throughout the winter months as Aspen does its very best to welcome winter visitors.
• Big Sky: Big Sky, Montana is located in the Rocky Mountains, and southeast of town, you will find Yellowstone National Park. You can enjoy all the adventures that the slopes have to offer in Big Sky and still have plenty of time to relax at some of the areas nicest resorts. 
• Park City: Park City, Utah, is another ski destination that should be on your list. It is located 25 miles southeast of Salt Lake City, which makes it easy to get to by plane. Park City is a popular spot with celebrities – so don’t be surprised if you see someone famous while exploring the local restaurants and shops. 
• Squaw Valley: If you want to head to California to go skiing, then head to Squaw Valley. In 1960 Squaw Valley hosted the Winter Olympics and has been a popular ski destination ever since. You’ll love the slopes and the relaxed California vibe, along with skiing that’s suitable for all ages. 

If you love skiing, these places are probably at the top of your list of destinations you’d like to visit. They offer excellent slopes, fresh snow almost daily, and accommodations that will please the toughest critic. Where would you choose to go skiing if you had the chance?
